Emailed the agent as I hasn't heard from her by close of business today. She replied saying she has been very busy and out of the office all day and apologised for the delay and oh she will give me an answer on Monday!!!!!

WHAT THE EVER-LOVING-FUCK????? I do not want to have to wait another 3 days to find out if I have a house to move into. The longer she takes the more it makes me think she's going to reject my application and I will have to endure the added stress of finding somewhere else.

All I want to do right now is cry!!!!

Sorry to hear about your housing drama. That really sucks. Have you been checking domain.com.au? My rent just went up so I'm going to have to move soon too. It currently takes pretty much all of my pension, leaving me with less than $90 per fortnight to live on which doesn't nearly cover bills and food. I love Sydney, but I hate the prices here. My landlord has actually kept my rent $100 per week lower than the rest of my building's tenants, but even $350 for a one bedroom shoebox is ridiculous. I'm just lucky I've been staying with mum or I'd starve. I hope you find something in your suburb so you can stay where you love. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Yikes!!! And I thought my situation sucked!!! $350 (which is what I pay for a 2x1 HOUSE) for a 1br unit is insane.

Haven't really started looking elsewhere yet as I was so certain moving into the place my friend is vacating would work out and she's still really positive it will (she's been almost holding my hand via text and FB the whole day as I've been getting more and more stressed and depressed) that I'm trying my best to stay positive myself.

Had to laugh today, was coming home from walking Sam and passed a For Lease sign just a couple of houses away from where I live now. It's been there for at least a month but it didn't occur to me to enquire about it as I was beyond certain it would be too expensive for me to afford. Anyways, thought 'what the hell have I got to lose??', had my mobile with me (not wanting to miss the call from the agent) and rang the number on the sign. The place was leased just this week for $350/week, which would have been perfect for me -- within budget AND I get to stay in the same street!!!.

Now I'm kicking myself for not checking it out as soon as I was given notice to vacate a week ago. But at least it gives me hope that I may still be able to afford to live within walking distance of the river that both Sam & I love so much.

Best wishes that you find something affordable. I know what it likes to be on such a tight budget and it ain't a nice way to live.
