Facing my fears.... and laughing at them!!!

 Well I did it. Went to my appointment at the beauty salon and walked out 15 mins later with pretty little gold and blue gem sleepers in my ears. The actual piercing only took about a minute, the other 14 were spent agonising over whether I was brave enough to go through with it. In the end I handed them my ATM card to debit the money and asked them to do it before I changed my mind.

All 3 ladies at the salon were wonderfully understanding and supportive of my fears and apprehension. None of them rushed me into a decision and they all patiently answered every question I had along with reassuring me that they had other clients who were just as scared or even more so than I was, including one who began crying even before her piercing was done.

I went with the two operators at once approach on their suggestions that it was best that I get it over and done with as quickly as possible. It really didn't hurt at all, just a sting. All thanks to the numbing cream I had applied about an hour before. It was certainly the best $40 I've ever spent. 

I've already got my eye on some lovely earrings and a couple of matching earring and necklace sets that I hope to buy over the next few weeks and months but there's no rush as I can't change the sleepers for 4-6 weeks which is good timing as I'm going to a classical concert (Beethoven's 5th) with some girlfriends in late July, so really looking forward to getting all dressed up and wearing my new earrings.

Well being able to wear some really nice earrings at my 40th was my main motivation for getting my ears pierced. Not that I plan on going crazy and buying heaps, esp with my trip to Burbank and the credit card to be paid off between now and November.

I had to laugh when I was looking in a jewelery store at some of the gold and diamond earring and necklace sets and only then saw lots of really nice clip-on earrings, though none as nice or blingy (if that's a word-- it is now- LOL) as the pierced ones, so I don't regret my decision.

I hear ya. I have more earrings than I'll EVER wear, but some of them are so blingy that I couldn't resist buying them.
