Episode reaction: SPN 12x12
Feb. 17th, 2017 06:57 pmA few thoughts....
Wow, that was the most crazy ep I think I've seen. I loved it!!! Not really sure why but I really really loved it!!!! Will need to watch it again and hopefully ALL the time jumps and flashbacks will make a bit more sense.
But I loved the call backs to Azazel and Michael and Crowley becoming King Of Hell and the Colt!!!! OMG, that last scene with Crowley and Lucifer opens up so many many questions. Will never not love seeing Mark Pellegrino as Lucifer.
But what the heck was that slo-mo near the start. Sure it looked super cool but what was the point of it?? Am thinking Speight was on something when he directed this ep and the title cards, they were weird too.
And, oh boy!! I so want to slap Mary into next week for putting her sons in danger, for working for the bastards who tortured Sam and threatened to kill Dean, for keeping secrets about something so fundamentally important to them and their entire lives work. They deserve so much better from her!
Loved Jared's performance so much. His hurt towards Mary, knowing she is not telling him things, knowing that she is in some of trouble or danger but won't share that burden with them. His need to know she's okay hunting again and her response as she walked away was heartbreaking.
LOL'ed at everyone ordering food but Sam wanting the free wifi password!!! Never change, baby!!
Also loved the convo with everyone talking over each other and especially Sam's "Why would you want them to smell like food?" Then Mary turns on the Mum voice "Hey" and everyone goes immediately quiet, Sam and Dean looking like little kids. Sam's "Sorry, mum." was just too adorable.
A big surprise was how much I enjoyed Misha this week. He played hurt/dying Cas really well, not going too over the top like when he played Lucifer last season, keeping it more real and quite emotional.
Am sure to have more to say after I do a rewatch or two. Am sure I missed a lot of little details.

Sam's reaction to Mandy calling @mishacollins "handsome" was more Jared than Sam... #spnfamily

Date: 2017-02-17 11:04 am (UTC)I'm loving Cas' love, but - we need more broments in season 12. We haven't even had a hug. Where's my broments??

Date: 2017-02-17 11:21 am (UTC)And why oh why didn't we get his reaction or any follow up when Mary told him the demon had yellow eyes??? That was a massive revelation and something so personal to Sam and his relationship with Mary and it needed to be given the attention it deserved.
I'm missing the broments too, very much. Am still mad as hell that we didn't get a hug back in 12x02 and should have gotten one last week after Dean got his memory back.
This was my favourite Misha performance in a very long time. Have been very bored with Cas since late season 7 so it was a very pleasant surprise to actually feel something for him during those scenes.

And what makes me angry is that he's actually quite forgiving, he tends to stick up for her and act like it's okay (even though it's totally not, and like you say, he probably wants to ask her what's going on).
I'm finding 12 difficult - I really liked 11, and there was a lot of heart in it. This season has had a few moments - actually mostly with Cas and the boys, which is lovely - but ahhh, broments! I just need a couple of nice little chats or a goddamn hug or something.
I still think Sam should've punched Dean for last week's little "joke". Actually, that would've been funny, a la in first season when Sam's like "did I miss anything?" and Dean slugs him.

Date: 2017-02-17 12:00 pm (UTC)I'm enjoying S12, though would love even a few Sam-centric eps, and lots more focus on everything Sam went thru in 12x01/2. There's be no aftermath, not even any discussion.
I was so pissed at Dean, not so much for the joke as I think it was in character, but for him stretching it out so long. He had to have see the pain on Sam's face, thinking the spell hadn't worked and that he had failed. It was needlessly cruel. Yeah, that would have been a great call back to Born Under A Bad Sign.

And yeah, Dean did draw it out too much. It actually felt a little out of character for him to be that mean about it.
