Just wondering if any of my f*lisities have upgraded to Windows 10, in particular, those using Windows 7???.

I've seen some tweets that ppl are generally pleased with the results but not much detail as to the benefits.

My Mama is a whizz kid with a p.c and she *is* going for it, but not yet. There are some bugs in the system by all accounts and until they've fixed them, she's hanging fire. I won't be, because it took me long enough to work out W8.1 lol!

I gather there are adverts unless you pay to remove them

Apparently so, like I said, she's hanging back until all the bugs are fixed so...

I don't have any personal experience from it, but one of the guys from my program says that while he's generally a fan of Windows updates--much moreso than most people--he'd wait on 10 right now, because there are still some nasty bugs rendering his computer useless right now. O_o;; So maybe wait for those to get sorted?

I'm using Windows 8 art the moment and I'm a bit hesitant to upgrade until I hear more

I would definitely wait until MS works the bugs out. 10 looks more like a Mac than any other version - too bad it won't run as well as a Mac. lol

Agree with what others said: stick with what you've got for now and wait for the bugs to get fixed before upgrading. I'm still very happy with my Windows 7 :)

The transition from Win 8.1 to Win 10 was far smoother for me personally than Win Vista to Win 8.1 was. There was a huge learning curve there. The biggest complaint I heard about Win 8.1 was the lack of a traditional menu. They've rectified that with Win 10 (8.1 had an odd set-up right to left sliding app page rather than the traditional menu which was fine for touch screens). The new menu appears to be a combo of the traditional and the 8.1 app page.

So far my only complaint is with Windows Edge the replacement for Windows Explorer. I haven't used Explorer in years due to issues I had (I've been using Fire Fox). I thought I would give Edge a try. It is simplified and reminds me of Google Chrome. For some reason though I can't scroll down the page without my pointer being on the scroll bar to the right. This might just be operator error though. *shrugs*

For me that's the only issue I've run into so far.

My friend [livejournal.com profile] peripety is the only person I know who has installed it and she likes it. She had a problem with Norton accepting it in the beginning, but it sorted itself out.

My husband (a computer security consultant) and I "reserved" the update, but will wait a month or so to install it. Like all new operating systems, there are few bugs and we hope they'll be fixed if we wait. We both have Windows 7 now. Hubby has three computers, one of which still has XP. My laptop OS is Vista, but I don't plan to upgrade that to 10. I keep the laptop only for emergencies and with its puny hard drive and RAM, it might not even be upgradeable.

I'm sure if there were serious problems with the upgrade, we'd be reading about it all over the Internet.
