So sad :-( but sadly not surprised :-(
Jared posted this vid to his facebook page:
and there are already negative comments about him "selling out" and "only doing it for the money", plus criticizing that it's for McDonalds and not something healthier, both in the comments on his Facebook and elsewhere (LJ, twitter. I don't do tumblr but I can imagine it's happening there as well). I wish people wouldn't always think the worse especially when they don't have all the information as to why Jared is doing it or how he benefits. For all we know he may very well be donating any money McDonalds is paying him to one of the numerous charities he supports.
Guess after the recent YANA fiasco (yes, Jared/AKF is involved but in a totally invisible way :-/ ) I'm especially sensitive at the moment when it comes to Jared. Just wish everyone remembered the saying I grew up with: If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
I work crazy hours, even when I’m home ! Best part about being in Austin? Picking up the kiddos!Thank goodness for McDonald's #AllDayBreakfast, otherwise I’d never fit in breakfast! #ad http://bit.ly/1mnGWe7

But, I mean, it's an ad. He's not doing anything so horrible. I mean, if you look at Bill Cosby and Charlie Sheen and so many others, Jared is hardly doing anything controversial.
Also, he looks totally adorable in it. Shilling aside.

Exactly. It IS just an ad. Anything that means I get more JP on my screen and these delightful RL BTS snippets, I'm always gonna love. Plus Jared is an adult who can make his own decision on what to endorse and why and I'll always support him.

I've noticed recently the move towards the new fandom celebration stuff, the charities and the ads, and I'm wondering if Supernatural is going to come to an end, this season or next. I feel like there is some post-Supernatural preparation happening.
Also, I just want hotcakes now. My friends laugh at me because I can sing so many ad jingles, and I think ads influence me just a little. Food especially. And I looooove Maccas hotcakes. And if someone paid me to say that, I totally fucking would.

I don't blame any of the actors for having post-SPN futures and careers in mind. As much as the boys (see their reactions as cons when someone mentions SPN ending) and fandom don't want the show to ever end, we all know that sometime in the future it will go on the Hellatus to end all Hellatusus/si ??
Also like that we sort of got confirmation that Jared is involved in some manner in the San Jac saloon in Austin.
I'll be getting Macca's for dinner tonight as it's payday and I always treat myself to take away (fish&chips/pizza/chinese) when I have lots (well at least for me it's lots) of money in my account (before it gets spent on rent and bills and credit card payments :-/ ) Hadn't decided ion which until I saw Jared's 'ad' so it definitely worked on me, though that's more because of Jared effect on me.

Of course I don't blame them for having it in mind, it just seems like maybe it's going to end sooner. I don't know. Just what I thought.
I totally did not know Jared was part of this saloon though, that was news to me! I was talking about this recently with a friend in relation to musicians, how so many of them open businesses and the like, because they are aware that their line of work is fleeting, and that they need something to fall back on, some longevity and a 'real' job of sorts. I'd rather Jared was selling Maccas and running a bar than doing lines of coke and renting expensive hookers, just waiting to overdose in a bathtub.
I think I'll be getting fast food for dinner too, although I'm going to get Hungry Jack's, so sorry Jared! Although, Maccas has frozen blue lemonade at the moment, and that stuff is fucking amazing….

He posted a pic on twitter a while back with him on a saddle and three other guys and mentioned they were at 'his bar' so fandom was already speculating about his involvement, investor?? co-owner?? So nice to know he is involved in the running of it and yes, it's a great investment for the future, no matter how low SPN runs.

Oh God, yes x a million!!!!
He seems pretty business savy and not likely to be pushed into something he doesn't really support.
I like HJ's too but am gonna stick with Maccas tonight (Thanks, JP) and now I gotta try the frozen blue lemonade.

Ah yes, I did see that. I might've gotten distracted by Jared on a saddle. Sometimes I see him and forget there are words around him.
Well, Jared is definitely a smart guy. He's well educated and bright, and I think he knows well enough to have business sense. I see it in the newer generations of stars who have perhaps grown up with the tales of stars who died too young, who died penniless, whose fame was so fleeting. I think we have many smarter and savvier celebs now.
Definitely try the blue lemonade. It. Is. Amazing. I still try and find places that have frozen raspberry, but most people don't. HJ's have fucking sherbert. Ugh.
Also, I would totally be pitching to Maccas to have a MooseBurger. Because they already have Jared endorsing them, surely he would totally rock doing that?!
Maybe I have a future in advertising….

As for me, I will always support him. He does not deserve this hate. I wanted to write something, too. But it would be useless. Everyone knows how supportive I am for him.

I know you are!!!! [[hugs]]
I thought for a while before posting but it was just something I had to get off my chest and if I can't do it on my own LJ, then where???

If it helps at all, I am personally a big fan of McDonald's breakfast sandwiches. XP I don't mean for that to come across as flippant--I really do. I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other about these commercials because, I mean, I'm neither JP nor his manager and he should do whatever he wants to do.
I hate it when the Internet--with no actual facts at all, and far less understanding of anything than their extremely convoluted, delusional, etc. theories would let on--narrativizes people like that. We always seem to think we know more than we do? Like, calm down, Internet. Accept that you don't actually have enough information to have authority to speak to things like this. And it's not that you don't have this information because it's being hidden from you, or unrightfully withheld or whatever. It's just not your problem! (And I'm speaking here, of course, of the general 'you' making accusations and spinning theories and whatnot--not YOU you!)

Yes, this^^^^. I also think that some people (and I refuse to call them fans) just take ANY situation/any chance to bash him. So even if all was revealed, there would still be those who just wanna hate for hate's sake.

He doesn't have to answer to anyone for how he makes money as long as he isn't hurting anyone...and this certainly isn't.

And some people can never find anything better to do than put other people down - especially wonderful people like Jared. Don't give them any mind. *HUGS*

Perhaps I should just stick to watching his vids and not reading the comments but then I would miss the 99% of the wonderful remarks from true fans showing their support and love for him.

Well see? That's what you should focus on. I know Jared is. <3<3
Awesome. I want some McDonald's pancakes too :)

Other than that I might be surprised to see those mini-ads pop-up, but I don't know anything about his motivation for doing them (as it is none of my business) , so I can only speculate in the area.
And neither minute maid nor McD alldaybreakie are available here anyway, so it can't even influence my shopping.
I just enjoy the snippets from his home life and seeing his adorable boys. And ignore the haters as I learned to do to keep my sanity

I actually found myself wondering if their experiences with supporting Jared made them want to start this charity. Given the title and all.
But seriously, people start an awesome charity and get shit for it. Logic?

Regardless of Jared's financial needs and what he chooses to do with his fee (charity or otherwise), I'm disappointed he chose to associate himself professionally and endorse a company which I despise morally and ethically.
Just my vegan opinion of course. If Jared's okay with McDonalds then fair play to him.

I'm sure that it was done to make some money, but who cares? It all seems like a real overreaction, but I suppose that fandom is known for that these days :(

I get incredibly grouchy when folks say bad things about my boys.

I did wonder when he posted the picture of himself holding a Micky Dee's coffee cup a few days ago, but I get their coffee and all-day breakfast sandwiches occasionally too, so I was more like "up with the working class!" and "Good for you, Jared, not just promoting Starbucks and all the well-heeled coffee joints!"

Being angry at Jared for the ad he's playing is no different than being angry at him when Sam does something you don't like in the show. He's an actor. He is paid for acting. People are strange!
I just remember Dean's comment on 'the monster at the end of the book: "for fans, they sure complain a lot."

So many people who worked with McD - really not something that's worth the drama now made about it by some haters

Jared talked a bit about his recent endorsements during the private VIP meet and greet. He's taking a lot of crap about the McDonald's thing but he's okay with it. He actually eats McDonald's, he crashed his car on a McDonald's run. He drinks Minute Maid daily. He said he refuses to endorse items he doesn't actually use. He's gonna be endorsing Chevy soon, every car he owns is a Chevy.
