Am settled in my hostel in Hollywood for the night so time to update!!! It's a 4 bed all-female dorm but I'm the only one in here so it's basically a private room for only $35US. Briefly spoke to another guest as she was packing her things and she gave the place a glowing review so I think I'll be happy to stay here again when I come back to LA in a couple of weeks. It's pretty clean and rather quiet considering it's right on Hollywood Blvd (where the Walk of Fame with all the stars is).

Have got a very early start tomorrow as I have to be at the Greyhound station in LA by 6.30am for my bus trip to Vegas so alarm is set for 5am. Am catching a train and bus to the station for only $1.75. Will have to see how it goes with all my luggage. If it's too much of a pain in the arse, will use shuttle bus next time. (To here from LAX it was only $16 so not too bad) But am hoping I can manage on public transport as it will save me quite a bit of money. Luckily, the train station is right across the st from the hostel and according to Google Maps, I only have a couple of 5 min walks between train and bus and then the Greyhound stn.

Had a fantastic flight from Auckland, NZ to LA overnight. There were lots of empty seats so I ended up in a row of 3 by myself so was able to lay down and stretch my legs out -- one of the few times being short has come in really handy. Managed almost 5 hours sleep on the 10 hour flight when I usually struggle to doze for more than 30 mins at a time when flying so arrived in LA feeling very refreshed.

Kudos to AirNewZealand for the wonderful and very speedy service on board. Could order free drinks and snacks thru the entertainment screen and they were delivered to my seat in less than a couple of minutes.

Plus they had season 10 of SPN so I was a very happy fangirl. Ended up watching about 5 eps.

I got through customs pretty quickly, though trying to explain to the border security dude why I was going to a tv show convention was pretty funny. He thought I was there to buy tv shows for a network, obviously had no idea what a con is. Ended up telling him it was just a smaller version of San Diego ComicCon but am still not sure he got it. Oh well, he let me in so that's all that matters.

Then bought a US sim card with unlimited data and texts (thanks for that tip, Betty. Will have no trouble d/loading my SPN eps whilst I'm here!!! Priorities, dude!!!) Then found a power outlet for my laptop (which had died on the plane and 3/4 of the way through my viewing of the latest SPN ep) and sat down to watch 11x04 in full. Loved it, it certainly lived up to all the hype J2 and fandom had for it.

Can't wait to squee about it with a thousand other fans at DenverCon in 8 days time as I'm sure it'll be the talk of the con.

Ok that's about it for now. Gonna watch 11x04 again then hit the sack. Will probably post again once I'm settled in my hotel in Vegas tomorrow.

I have 1 shift left tonight (midnight-8am Sat) and then I'm officially on annual leave and only 4 days away from embarking on my Epic SPN Con Adventure. The last few months have whizzed by but this last week has gone so slow now that I'm getting so close to leaving.

Went on a bit of a shopping spree this morning after work and bought some snazzy new luggage.

I love the colour and the print and hopefully it will be easy to spot on the baggage carousel.

Also bought heaps of plain t-shirts as my wardrobe mainly consists of fandom shirts, most of which I'll be taking with me as well. But these will be fine worn under my other shirts as an extra layer against the cold.

And some snacks to get me through the 6 (Oz-NZ) and 14 hour (NZ-LA) flights and the 3 bus trips, one 5 hours, the other two 24 hours. Oh and the 2 3 day con weekends, of course. Will be buying fresh fruit when I get stateside.

There's still lots to do. Will be printing out all my con tickets, photo and auto ops, hotel reservations, bus tickets & schedules this weekend. Then doing a few loads of washing on Monday and packing on Tues. Hoping to sleep in Wednesday morning then take Sam for a nice long walk before packing the car with all his stuff and my luggage for the drive up to my brother's place around lunch time. He's dogsitting Sam for me, which will save me a fortune in kennel fees. He really loves him so I know my baby is going to be in good hands and spoilt rotten (hopping on the couch, sleeping in my brother's bed, getting lots of cuddles and play-time) He's also going to drive me to the airport, also saving me an expensive taxi fare.

Made major progress with booking things for my big Con trip to the USA which is just 2 months away.

It's going to be quite the mixed adventure as I'm doing all my internal travel on Greyhound buses -- LA-Vegas (5 hours), Vegas-Denver (23 hours) and Denver-LA (19 hours) The last two legs are overnighters, thereby saving myself 2 nights accommodation. Where I'm staying is even more interesting, ranging from 6-bed dorms in hostels in LA and Denver to the 5-star Sheraton (PasCon) and Marriott (DenverCon) hotels on the con weekends. In between I'm staying for 4 nights at the 3 star El Cortez hotel & casino in Vegas that my travel agent found for me for just $67/night.

Now that travel and rooms have been taken care of, I can put all my savings towards spending money for merchandise and photo-ops at the 2 cons and general day-to-day living expenses. The budget is still going to be super tight but I know I'll have enough to have a good, fun trip.

Autos & Photos I'll be getting are:

Denver- Autos (All included with Gold ticket)
Jared, Jensen, Misha, Mark Sheppard, Gil McKinney, Tahmoh and Mark Pellegrino

Photos paid for-
Jared x2, Jensen x2, J2

Photos I'd like to get (depending on budget)
Mark P, Gil, Tahmoh.

Pascon - Autos (included with Gold ticket)
Jared, Jensen, Misha, Mark Sheppard, Osric, Kim Rhodes, Ruth, Brianna, Richard, Matt, Travis, Kathryn Newton

Extra autos-
Rob Benedict ($25)

Photos paid for-
Jared, Jensen, J2

Photos I'd like to get (depending on budget)
Kim, Richard/Matt/Rob triple

Just bought my gold ticket and photo ops for PasCon15.

Got a fantastic second row seat (B6) which is closer than I'll be at Denver. More good news is that it looks like I've lined up 3 roommates for the con weekend, so my 4 day stay at the Sheraton Pasadena should only cost me $144 which I think is a bargain.

Next on the list to purchase is LA-Denver-LA air ticket, a Disneyland entry/hotel package and another cheap LA hotel/motel for my second week there. Will have to contact my travel agent and see what specials are available. And then I can start putting away spending money.

Just updated my Con Adventure Masterpost with details about flight and hotel bookings. Having just bought my Perth-LA return ticket, this trip is finally starting to seem real, rather than just the hazy dream it's been for the last couple of years.

Also, this already awesome Year of the Con has just gotten even more awesome as I found out that Cpt Tightpants himself, Nathan Fillion, will be coming to a local Perth con (Supanova) at the end of June, so of course I must go see him and have a photo and get his auto and watch his panel and it's going to be amazing.

So this year I'll be seeing Ben Browder and Michael Shanks at Perth OzComicCon in April, Jared and Jensen in Denver and LA in November and now Nathan at Supanova in June. Can this 2015 get any more amazing???? I don't think so. I hope not as my poor budget is being absolutely stretched to the max.

Just when I didn't think I could get any more excited about my con adventures next year , I find out that Ben Browder and Michael Shanks, 2 of my favourite actors (3rd and 4th after Jared and Jensen)  are coming to my hometown next April for OzComicCon and I just know I'm going to be spending the big bucks to have the best weekend with them, which will hopefully also include dinner with 1 or both of them.

I've had the pleasure of meeting both guys at various cons before, Ben 3 times (in LA, Sydney and Melbourne) and Michael once in Melbourne, but I'm still really excited to be getting the chance to see them again. More photos and autos and panels and I can't wait!!!! And I know I'm just going to be as giddy and nervous as I was when meeting them for the very first time.

With Ben,  this con will be extra special as I'll be getting to share it and him with my best friends, a group of amazing gals who answered my desperate pleas when I first discovered Farscape and was in need of episodes to watch. All I wrote in an Aussie yahoogroup for Farscape was "I've seen an ep and I need more. Please help!!!!!" It wasn't on air in Oz at the time, I didn't have a dvd player so they copied VCR tapes for me and sent them to my local library (2 were librarians) for me to pick up. In the decade since, we've met up every few weeks for lunch or dinner, we've travelled to the other side of the country for fan meet-ups (the best of which was TaScape '04 when they were filming PeaceKeeper Wars in Sydney. We did a double-decker bus location-filming tour, had the crew madly shutting windows when we drove past the studio where they were filming and had an amazing BBQ on the beach where a lot of scenes were filmed that was attended by lots of the crew. Unfortunately the cast (Ben, Claudia, ect weren't there) but it was still a fantastic day. So many crew were amazed that we wanted their signatures and to have photos with them. These guys were production people and set dressers and special effects crew and costumers and other behind-the-scene folks who so rarely get the recognition for all the wonderful work they do. Without them, there would have been no Farscape (and the same goes for SPN as well)

Anyways, only 2 of this group has met Ben before, so it'll be amazing to see the others get to meet him as well. And I'm hoping that some other Scapers that we haven't seen in years will make the trip from interstate so we can have a great big Scaper family reunion.

So my poor, poor credit card is going to take more torture and I'll be living off toast and vegemite for years (maybe decades) to come as I pay it off but oh boy, it is certainly going to be worth every bloody cent.

So, meeting and hugging Jared

and Jensen

and Ben

and Michael

all in one year and at 3 cons. I truly don't think I'm going to survive so much OMFG hotness and awesome and sexyness but dude, what a way to go!!!!

November, 2015 and I'll be travelling all the way from little ol' Perth, Western Australia to the grand ol' US of A to attend not 1 but 2 SPN cons. I'll be meeting Jared and Jensen for panels and photos and autos (OH MY!!!!!) and the rest of the amazing cast (and hopefully some crew as well), hanging out with hundreds of other fans and generally having the time of my life.

First up will be Denver Nov 5-9 and then LA the following weekend, Nov 13-15. I'm also visiting Las Vegas for the first time and hope to squeeze in a quick trip to the Grand Canyon.

So I'll be using this masterpost to keep up to date with Con and travel related things and general squeeing which I'm sure will only get louder the closer I get to flying out.

I've just purchased most of my tickets for DenverCon2015.

Gold Weekend Pass (seat D42)
2 Jared photo ops
2 Jensen photo ops
1 J2 photo op

Wanted to get those photo ops before they sold out. Hope to buy ops for other guests in the months to come (once my poor credit card has recovered.) Also have to decide if I want extra autographs in addition to those that come with the Gold package.

Now to wait until the LA con tickets go on sale and spend up big again!!!!

I'm going to 2 SPN cons next year and I can't wait!!!!!

Denver on Nov 6-8 and then LA the following weekend (13-15 Nov). Had hoped for a two week gap, so I'd have more time for sightseeing but I can always fly over earlier (all the way from Australia) and stay an extra week after LACon. Am really hoping to also visit Vegas for a few days.

Tentative travel dates at this stage are arrive in LA on Oct 30. Fly onto Vegas for 4-5 days, then head to Denver on Nov 5 for the con. Fly to LA on the 9th. Spend two weeks there then head home on the 21st.

Now that I know the dates I can book air tickets and holidays and look at accommodation and begin buying con tickets and photo ops and autos.

Anyone on my f*list also going to either of these cons?? If so, would love to meet up and chat.

I just saw Misha in the lobby of my hotel!!! He was standing to one side by himself using his cell/mobile. Tweeting perhaps?

I'll admit I did a double take, but only because I didn't expect to see him, NOT because I didn't recognise him.  He's looking great but smaller than I had imagined he would be in RL.

Not much other news from Sydneytown yet. Weather has been better that I expected. Rain yesterday but today has been fine and pretty chilly.

About to head out to meet up with some other fans before the con tomorrow. Should be a blast. 2 dozens SPN fans in a small cafe.... what a way to spend the afternoon.

3rd and final flight (Sydney to Melbourne) booked and paid for. Melbourne hotel for 3 nights booked and paid for. Now I can concentrate on putting away spending money for the trip.

Things I still have to budget for include photos and autos and some merchandise, a couple of tours in both cities. Not planning too much in advance. Just gonna see what the weather is like (hoping for fine and sunny but preparing for rain and storms) and what I feel like doing when I get there.

Only 6 weeks to go and I'm get more and more excited. Not just for the chance to meet the actors from the show and hang out with fellow fans, but to get a break from work which is really getting me down at the moment. I still enjoy my job, most days, but it's been getting a bit boring lately as in I'm doing the same thing everyday. I'm actually starting to hope that something breaks down or needs attention, just for something different to do.

Okay, things are moving along nicely. Have booked 2 of the 3 flights I need, just the short Sydney-Melbourne Sat night flight to go.

Also booked 3 nights in Sydney staying at the Mercure hotel. A few other fans are also staying there so should be some fun pre-con meets up happening, plus it's means sharing cabs out to the con venue on Saturday. Melbourne hotel will be booked in 2 weeks (next pay) and then it's just a matter of putting away money for spending, photos, autos and other goodies.

Crossing fingers that a friend from rural NSW can make it down to Sydney for the con. Will be great to catch up with her. Been a couple of years since we've seen each other. Even though we stay in touch on the phone and via FaceBook, it's not the same.

Still waiting for Hub to announce the last 2 guests. Those 2 TBA boxes on the website are so frustrating. I know it won't be either Jared or Jensen, but if I had to chose I'd love to see Seb Roche, Mark Pellegrino or Mark Sheppard.

Have just booked my tickets for the AHBL con to be held in Sydney and Melbourne in late May. Next up is airline tix (they have to wait for next pay in a fortnight). Then there's hotels to book and spending money to save up. Still have to budget for photos and autos and other goodies.

Have decided I'm taking a week off work and turning the weekend into a 6 day trip to the east coast. Have been at the servo for almost 3 years and this is the first decent holdiay I've taken. Being casual I don't get paid holidays, so usally don't take off more than a day or two. But I really need a break and the east coast is about as far as I can afford to go. Have been invited to a wedding in the US in June, but there's no way I can afford to go that far or take enough time off work (ie at least 2 or 3 weeks to make it worthwile) so it's the 2 day/2 city con instead.

Thurs 24th May, Friday , Saturday in Sydney fly down to Melbourne Sat night, then spend Sunday, Monday  & Tuesday there before flying home either Tues night or Wednesday morning. It's gonna be full-on but I desperately need a break from work.

Have a couple of touristy things to do-- Harbour Bridge climb in Sydney (Have been to Sydney heaps in last 10 years but have never been able to fit in a bridge climb) and The MCG tour in Melbourne. Have been a big AFL footy and cricket fan since I was little so am looking forward to this tour. Apart from that I'll probably just see what's on offer when I get to both cities. Was hoping to catch a game of footy while in Melbourne but they conflict with the con, so maybe next time.
